Brake Pads
Responsible for stopping vehicles quicker than ever before, brake pads are one of the most important components in the braking system. And is why there’s no compromise when it comes to choosing one. As a leading Tier-1 OE manufacturer, our brake pads are designed, manufactured and tested to the meet the same standards of performance as the OE. We call it Delphi “Five Layers of Quality”… and we build these into every one of our brake pads. But don’t just take our word for it – recent tests have proven that our pads stop quicker, brake quieter and last longer too.

First-to-market
Delphi first-to-market brake parts provide a huge advantage to our aftermarket customers, allowing workshops to generate additional revenue by accessing the repair business on these newer vehicles sooner, increasing both profitability and
customer retention.
Five Layers of Quality
Want to know what a quality brake pad looks like? Then look no further than the “Five Layers of Quality” in every Delphi pad…
- Shims: OE-quality, multi-layered shims for quieter braking.
- Back plate: powder coated high-strength pressed steel for increased strength and wear resistance.
- OE underlayer: 3mm noise-absorbing friction material for reduced heat transfer and a stronger pad.
- Friction material: 20 unique friction formulations engineered for the vehicle class.
- Friction surface: OE configured chamfers and slots for improved bedding in performance.

Engineered to Stop Quicker. Brake Quieter. Last Longer.
We recently tested our pads fitted to a VW Passat 2.0 TSI against the OE and six leading aftermarket brands. The results? Well, they speak for themselves. Delphi outperformed the competition in every test. We stopped quicker, quieter and lasted longer…and by some way. See how we excelled in all the tests!
Proven high performance braking
What about the extra demands that come with higher speed braking? Again, not a problem. On a VW Touareg II V6 TDI, the Delphi's pad delivered exceptional stopping power, control, and brake fade stability, without compromising on noise or wear. A sure sign that our brake pads can handle the additional heat. See our brake pad testing results for yourself.
Rigorous testing
Of course, there’s no compromise when it comes to safety-critical parts. That’s why we go over and above our legislative requirements and undertake rigorous noise, performance and wear testing, both in the lab and on the road. So, you can be sure our brakes perform, regardless of the conditions.
Greener braking
From January 2025, US legislation will dictate that brake pads must contain no more than 0.5% copper, whilst still meeting the same rigorous safety standards. Just like vehicles fitted with Delphi brakes, we have stopped sooner. The newly engineered formula offers improved brake fade performance without compromising noise control or heat dissipation. Read more about Delphi’s copper-free pads.
Our directional brake pads
Our range of directional brake pads feature either a chamfered friction surface or a crescent cut out of the shim. By creating the perfect angle for optimal pad to disc contact, they minimise noise and vibration for even quieter braking. Learn more how to install them.
Mirroring vehicle manufacturer updates
In line with our commitment to always meet the same standards of performance, consistency, and longevity as the OE, we continuously benchmark the latest vehicle manufacturer samples. If we spot any changes, we’ll match them. Like for like. So if the vehicle manufacturer adds a chamfer three years after launch, we’ll add one too. If they upgrade their friction material, we’ll upgrade ours. You get the gist! Whatever it is, we’ll update the Delphi pad too.
