Delphi Technologies extends diesel service offering with launch of OE-approved Common Rail pump remanufacturing program
Delphi Technologies’ new remanufactured program ensures a high-quality, competitively priced and timely replacement pump, increasing vehicle up time, while reducing repair bills.
With three service options - new, authorized repair and now reman – aftermarket professionals can choose the best solution for their customers and capitalize on the significant diesel service opportunity.
WARWICK, UK, June 18, 2019 – Delphi Technologies is extending its diesel service offering with the launch of a remanufacturing program for Common Rail pumps covering popular car, light-commercial, medium duty and off-highway applications. The new range, remanufactured to OE-approved standards, ensures distributors and garages can offer their customers high-quality product and service, at a competitive price. Alongside new OE and authorized repair, it provides another highly profitable service option in what is still a growing market.
“Sales of new diesel vehicles across Europe only peaked in 2015, meaning that millions of vehicles are just entering the independent aftermarket for servicing,” says Jean-Francois Bouveyron, vice president, Delphi Technologies Aftermarket – EMEA. “Coupled with a growing parc of light and medium duty applications, Common Rail servicing is expected to increase during the coming years. The launch of our remanufacturing program provides the aftermarket with another means of tapping into this lucrative market.”
Increasing vehicle up time and protecting the environment with 85 percent lower energy consumption
As vehicles get older, the cost of repair can become disproportionately high compared to its value. By reusing the core, however, Delphi Technologies will be able to return the pump to as good as new at a more competitive cost, helping to reduce repair bills for both vehicle owners and fleet managers. And because the process uses more than 50 percent less material and consumes around 85 percent less energy, it is better for the environment too.
Another area the company is equally committed to is quality. Whereas some remanufacturers only replace damaged parts, or worse still clean the pump, Delphi Technologies employs a rigorous seven-step process; including core inspection, product disassembly, cleaning, further inspection, part replacement with like-for-like OE, assembly and test and calibration. This meticulous approach ensures that the pump performs to OE specifications for emissions, fuel economy and durability.
“Most garages do not service only one type of vehicle or one type of customer. So it makes sense to offer more than one solution. With the addition of reman pumps to our existing new and repair programs, distributors and garages can offer their customers choice, without compromising on quality or service levels – two areas which we know are vital to succeed in the aftermarket,” he adds.
The new range consists of 29 DFP1, DFP3 and DFP4 Common Rail pumps, fitted to 22 car, light commercial and off-highway vehicle manufacturers including Ford, Hyundai, JCB, Kia, Mercedes, PSA and SsangYong. Backed by a two-year warranty, it is available off-the-shelf through both Delphi Technologies’ distributors and authorized repair network. To seed the program, new OE pumps will initially be supplied for a period of time, allowing the company to build up a stock of core.
