In this article, you will find out about Delphi's Braking systems.
When it comes to braking, speed is a must. In an emergency situation, every second counts – it could make the difference between you having an accident, or not. We apply the same philosophy to our new-to-range braking parts. Making sure we get the right parts to the workshop bay as quickly as we possibly can. Ok, so we’re talking weeks rather than seconds, but timing still matters. Why?
Well, it’s simple. Every time a driver hits the brake pedal, a tiny fragment of friction material wears off the pad. Now think about how many times they might apply their brakes in a typical journey. Especially in stop-go-traffic. And it’s no wonder that they’re often one of the first critical items to be replaced.
Whilst this might be bad news for the vehicle owner, it’s a great opportunity for you, the independent garage. Because unlike other routine service procedures, most vehicle owners will have their pads, inspected, and replaced by a qualified technician. But this is more than just a one-time brake job. Do it well and you could tie in a new vehicle, with plenty more repairs in it, for its entire lifetime. So, you’re going to want to make sure that you have both the right part for the vehicle, and a proven quality part too.
And that’s where we can help. As a manufacturer of the pioneering propulsion technology fitted as OE to many of these vehicles, we work hand-in-hand with the world’s leading automakers, years before launch. Knowing exactly what’s coming and when, means that we can always be one step ahead of the game in terms of new product introductions.
Last year, for example, we introduced new braking parts for the Land Rover Evoque (06/19), Volvo S60 (05/19>), BMW 7 series (03/19>), Mercedes B-class (01/19>) and EQC400 (05/19>), Mazda 3 (01/19>), Toyota Corolla (02/19>) and Supra (06/19>) and Nissan Qashqai (04/19>) and Leaf (01/19>). This year we were first to market on brake pads for the brand new Landrover Defender (2020>) and Volkswagen Golf MK8 (2020>), meaning you can access the repair opportunity even sooner.
This is never at the expense of quality, however. Every one of our braking parts is designed, engineered, and manufactured to very highest OE standards - for brakes that are proven to stop quicker, brake quieter, and last longer. Take our pads; unlike some of our competitors, they feature a special OE underlayer technology that reduces noise, lowers heat transfer and increases the pad’s shear strength. Just like the OE.
The same goes for our discs. Our engineers consider every possible variable when developing a new one, resulting in a range of different disc castings and/or configurations that mirror the OE for fit, form, and function...even if, like the vented vanes in our discs, they are more complicated and costly to cast. In a nutshell, if the OE does it, we do it too.
This winning combination – providing the right parts, for very latest vehicles, in the quickest possible timeframe – means that technicians can fit Delphi’s brakes with complete confidence. Knowing that they’ll be able to perform a best-practice, OE-quality repair, that will guarantee 100 percent customer satisfaction, and with it, safeguard repeat business for years to come.
