Resource Highlights
Here we’re looking at finding the quickest way to identify a source of vibration or noise in a vehicle’s suspension.
It can be very tricky to investigate a customer’s complaint about a noise or vibration. Wireless chassis ear is a tool that lets you identify sources of noise and vibration much quicker.
Laura, our Delphi expert, shows you how it’s done using a Tesla Model Y as an example vehicle. She takes you through:
The components of an EZ tool
How it works
How to use it to find an issue, step by step
Why do I need a tool like this, when I can run a visual check?
You can run a visual check of course, but it’s hard during this sort of check to simulate the same loads the vehicle is under when it’s on the road.
What does the wireless chassis ear tool come with?
Typically it comes with four sensors (to attach to each wheel or suspension system), a wireless control box and headphones to listen in.
Can a wireless chassis ear tool be used to diagnose other faults?
Yes. You can use the tool to identify faults right across a vehicle’s engine, axles and chassis. It’s ideal for diagnosing faulty fuel injectors, bearings, gears, suspensions, transmissions, differentials and CV joints.
