Resource Highlights
Here we’re looking at how to check and replace an in-cylinder pressure sensor.
The example vehicle we’re working with is a Skoda Octavia. The pressure sensors are within the car’s glow plugs, so to inspect and change them, we’re going to need to access the vehicle’s ECU and go through a series of steps.
Phil, our Delphi expert, walks you step by step how to do this, using a Delphi VCI tool. He shows you:
- How to connect your diagnostic tool to check fault codes
- Complete the mechanical repair
- Re-calibrate the engine after you’ve finished
Do I need to remember anything before I remove glow plugs?
Yes. It’s a good idea to turn the engine on or 10 minutes or so beforehand – it’ll make the plugs easier to remove.
How do I find the function I need when I’m recalibrating?
Finding the right function is easy with Delphi’s new quick find capability. Just type in the beginning of the component or process, and the system will do the rest.
How do I prove to my customer that I’ve completed the diesel in-cylinder pressure sensor work?
The Delphi system lets you print a certificate for the work you’ve undertaken – it’s available after you’ve re-calibrated the vehicle.
