Cost
-
Training employees is an ongoing cost employers must consider, so locating low-budget ways to access additional training is always a plus. Accessing a course of how-to videos doesn’t require investment in expensive equipment, and doesn’t incur travel costs. More often than not these videos are free of charge. As technicians gain knowledge and experience from the videos they can even save the business money – reducing returning faults and man-hours on that work.

Accessibility
Any technician can simply bring up a video on their smartphone to look something up. But accessibility is about more than convenience for many people. Accessibility is about accommodating each technician’s different needs, to make sure everyone has the same level of access to the material. Videos are the perfect format for standardizing accessibility. Watch and pause at whatever pace you need; or access features like narration and closed captions. More and more providers are adding other helpful features such as additional graphics – and even sign language.

Time
The time you could save from using bitesize bits of video to learn something new can quickly add up. Firstly there’s the time saved by not travelling away from the workshop to attend a course. Then there’s the quick process of searching for the video you need and finding the exact portion. The video format can be really helpful here. There’s no need to step away from the ramp or significantly interrupt the work on the vehicle.
